Tell me about your launch story; how did your organization get started?

On Friday, April 17th, Voices of Gen-Z was born. It all started when we were FaceTiming like we do every day, and Shreya brought up an idea saying that we should start a podcast. So we got to brainstorming and came up with the idea of advocating for Gen-Z issues. We then spent the day figuring out the logistics of the podcast and what we wanted to do for it. That day, the trailer went out and marked our first official appearance to the world. We call this “The 11 am Story” because that was the time that we FaceTimed and came up with the idea.

What challenges did you face, if any, while launching?

While launching, the podcast didn’t face major issues, it was mostly technical and making sure that we were smoothly getting everything online.

Tell me about its mission/goals and the primary populations you serve?

The goal of Voices of Gen-Z is to ultimately unite the voices of our Generation. We have created a blog that is used as a platform for Gen-Z organizations and advocators to speak their minds and let their voices be heard. We are here to provide insights on Gen-Z issues and topics in our podcast and have our generation come together as one voice.

What does your organization do best?

Our organization best tells the stories of our generation and provides a voice to countless other gen-sers in an effort to make it known that this generation has important things to say!

What are you working to improve?

We are here to establish what this generation is here to say. Through this podcast and blog, we look to break down barriers and recognize that this generation is full of changemakers and is also redefining what we know society to be today.

What does collaboration over competition mean to you?

We believe that we are not here to compete but to unite. At the end of the day, our podcast is here to unite as many voices as possible, and therefore, that means we need to collaborate with multiple organizations, which we have been doing. It’s not about who is the best, but rather, how can we come together to continue to create a society that we are honored to live in.

Final words of wisdom to all the young women out there who are strategizing to reach their education and career goals?

Make sure that you are ambitious and never let anyone hold you back or get in your way of success. Something that has really helped us is goal setting, sometimes we fall short of those goals but that’s ok because we just pick up again and make new goals.

How can our readers reach you, get involved, or learn more?
